Hello everyone! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe thanksgiving. With the colder weather upon us, I’m sure people are beginning to think about some cold water fishing. With that in mind, we have ask Mike Durkalec, Aquatic Biologist for the Cleveland Metroparks, to give us a presentation on Dec 8th at 7PM. Mike is a well known expert on the fisheries in the Metroparks and will be doing a presentation on the Steelhead fishing in the Cleveland Metroparks. As many of you know the silvers are back in the rivers for fall and early winter fishing. This will be a presentation you will not want to miss!
Hope to see everyone next Tuesday, Dec 8th at 7PM!
Steve Parker, President COFF
I hope you are enjoying the great weather we are experiencing and you are able to do some fishing (or hunting).
Tuesday we will have an outstanding speaker in Lance Egan. Lance is a member of the U.S. fly fishing team and
Is well known around the world for his expertise in European-style Nymph Fishing. Lance hails from Utah so our meeting will have
A slightly later start time of about 8 PM with Lance joining us at 8:15. This is one presentation you will want to join with a great opportunity to ask lots of questions
For one of the world’s best.
Oct: Curt Wagner (ODNR) – Ohio Brook Trout Restoration
November: THE Lance Egan – Nymphing tactics…
Hello everyone, I hope your fishing has been productive. The bass have been very active lately along with most of the warm water fish.
As you may know, COFF normally has a September meeting at the smokehouse brewing Co, but with the ongoing pandemic that is not possible
This year. However, we do have a great Fall lineup for everyone to enjoy. Next Tuesday (Sept 8th) at 7PM we will be having a great presenter
Via a Zoom meeting. Our guest will be Jen Riipple, Editor-in-Chief of Dun Magazine will join us next Tuesday for a virtual meeting sharing her expertise targeting Smallmouth Bass on the Fly.
@jen_ripple is an avid fly fisher with extensive fishing experience in both salt and freshwater. Don’t miss this chance to learn from a pro, and pick her brain!
In October we will be having Curtis P. Wagner, Fisheries Management Supervisor, Ohio Department of Natural Resources as a guest doing a Zoom Presentation on Ohio Brook Trout.
In November we will Lance Egan, of Orem, Utah, a member of the USA Fly Fishing Team and well known euro nymphing expert talk about Euro Nymphing.
Also this fall we are working on a socially distanced casting outing. As the plans for this event become clearer we will post something on Facebook and our website.
As a reminder to everyone about Dues, last January we decided to better coordinate our dues with our first regular meeting in September of 2021. No dues
For exiting members will be collected until 2021.
Hopefully before that time we’ll all be able to meet again at the Barley Smokehouse, but in the interim please try and get out fishing with a member. We are working on setting up something on Facebook
That will allow people to find someone to fish with.
WE WILL POST THE ZOOM LINK ON FACEBOOK AND THE WEBSITE AS SOON AS IT IS AVAILABLE. I’LL ALSO EMAIL THE LINK TO EVERYONE AS SOON AS I GET IT.
I hope to see everyone next Tuesday!
Hello everyone, I hope your fishing has been productive. The bass have been very active lately but are now on their beds.
As you may know, COFF normally has an outdoor meeting in May before taking a break before our September meeting.
Due to the virus and the Governors ban on gatherings of over 10 a large outdoor gathering is not possible this year. We
Tried to get a couple of speakers to conduct a zoom meeting but were not successful in getting a commitment. Therefore we
Will forego our May meeting.
Normally we would not have gatherings or meetings in summer, but this year is not a typical year.
We are working on getting a speaker that we can use Zoom on again and if successful will let everyone know. We are also looking at
Conducting some small clinics or outings where we can social distance over the next couple of months. I will let everyone know as these plan
Progress. If anyone knows of a speaker or one of you would like to do a presentation or has an idea for a presentation, clinic, or outing for the group please let me know.
I hope this email finds everyone safe and enjoying some great fishing.
Since we are unable to have one of our regular meetings, we have decided to
Have a virtual meeting instead. Our own Jon Horn will be doing a presentation on
The Driftless fishing in Wisconsin. Jon has spent several summers traveling to the
streams of Wisconsin and will provide some great insight. As much as we would like to
Have a virtual social hour we will need to allow that for a future time.
The presentation will start about 7PM and we will be using Zoom to allow everyone to join.
How you do this is pretty straight forward.
You will need a PC, Smart Phone, Laptop, IPAD or MacBook.
Make sure your devices has sound capability and video if you want to let people see you when asking questions.
Erica will be moderating to allow people to ask questions as the presentation moves along.
