Hello everyone, I hope your fishing has been productive. The bass have been very active lately  along with most of the warm water fish.

As you may know, COFF normally has  a  September meeting at the smokehouse brewing Co, but with the ongoing pandemic that is not possible

This year. However, we do have a great Fall lineup for everyone to enjoy. Next Tuesday (Sept 8th) at 7PM we will be having a great presenter

Via a Zoom meeting. Our guest will be Jen Riipple, Editor-in-Chief of Dun Magazine will join us next Tuesday for a virtual meeting sharing her expertise targeting Smallmouth Bass on the Fly.

@jen_ripple is an avid fly fisher with extensive fishing experience in both salt and freshwater.  Don’t miss this chance to learn from a pro, and pick her brain!

In October we will be having  Curtis P. Wagner,  Fisheries Management Supervisor, Ohio Department of Natural Resources as a guest doing a Zoom Presentation on Ohio Brook Trout.

In November we will Lance Egan, of Orem, Utah, a member of the USA Fly Fishing Team and well known euro nymphing expert talk about Euro Nymphing.

Also this fall we are working on a socially distanced casting outing. As the plans for this event become clearer we will post something on Facebook and our website.

As a reminder to everyone about Dues, last January we decided to better coordinate our dues with our first regular meeting in September of 2021.  No dues

For exiting members will be collected until 2021.

Hopefully before that time we’ll all be able to meet again at the Barley Smokehouse, but in the interim please try and get out fishing with a member. We are working on  setting up something on Facebook

That will allow people to find someone to fish with.

WE WILL POST THE ZOOM LINK ON FACEBOOK AND THE WEBSITE AS SOON AS IT IS AVAILABLE. I’LL ALSO EMAIL THE LINK TO EVERYONE AS SOON AS I GET IT.

I hope to see everyone next Tuesday!

Mad River Access and Thank You from ODNR

COFF recently received a thank-you letter from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) for making a contribution toward the purchase of 1.2 acres along the Mad River. This land is adjacent to existing Division of Wildlife-owned property along the river, near the intersection of state Routes 29 and 296, just north of Urbana.

COFF Member Mike Mehrle

I hope everyone is ready for some spring fishing if you haven’t been out lately.

Steelhead fishing is upon us and warmwater fish have been moving. It won’t be long

Before spring is here!

Our speaker this meeting is none other than our own Mike Mehrle.

Mike is well Known for his smallmouth fishing expertise.

Mike will be talking about hunting smallmouth bass in small creeks, how to find public access points, how to hunt the smallies down, and the flies he uses to catch trophies.

This is a topic you won’t want to miss!

We will also be hold another short raffle at the meeting. We will raffle off some of Mike’s great smallmouth flies as well as 2 tickets to the upcoming Fly Fishing Film Festival.

The Film Festival is March 5 at Studio 35.  Raffle tickets will be $2 each.
